End Live Sheep Exports

Labor wants to end cruelty in the live sheep export industry.

It’s clear this is unsustainable and simply has not changed for the better - despite constant promises and many reviews.

The Government had a chance to act in a meaningful way - it failed.

Labor will stop the northern summer sheep trade at the first opportunity and phase out all live sheep exports over time.

This is about ending the cruelty and supporting our sheep farmers to be sustainably profitable in the future, creating more local jobs.

Sign the petition and send a message to Morrison - end the cruelty now.

Sean O’Byrne; Why just sheep and not all live animal exports?

All live animal transport needs to be stopped as a matter of urgency. Whether around the roads of Australia in trucks, from Tasmania to the mainland by boat, this gastly trade almost always results in injury and unacceptable damage and cruelty to the animals involved. It is simply unAustralian to persist with it all.

Farmers can be supported to change to plant based sustainable farming.

I have been against this trade and protesting since 2011. It’s cruel and barbaric from the word go, when the ship leaves the port. Surely all these animals must be suffering from horrendous sea sickness the whole journey. I know whats its like to suffer from terrible sea sickness as a human……… I personally experienced not being able to move or get up at all, when I didn’t take any sea sickness medication (sea sickness is your worst nightmare). These poor animals don’t get a choice or have sea sickness medication of any sort, so how could any one think that these animals are feeling ok during this journey???Not to mention the lack of monitoring and fate they are facing on foreign shores. Animals are not meant to travel the on the long journey we force them to. The animal welfare laws for agriculture animals do not protect their safety and well being. I have worked and studied in the Companion Animals Industry/Transportation and the transportation laws for the Agricultural sector lacks so much care and decency in handling these animals. Live export animals are treated like they’re already dead before they leave our shores. Ban Live Export

The intollerable cruelty of the live animal trade MUST be acknowledged in a very serious way by any government in power. It should have stopped a long time ago, but instead the atrocities have continued, and in most cases, simply ignored. Immediate action needs to occur. I am totally fed up with inaction to put a permanent end to this.

Ah but it would be nice if a Government actually listened to people instead of doing a backflip as the spineless Libs have done. If you really care for animals there is only one party to vote for and it isn’t Labor!
