LABOR WILL BUILD LIGHTING AND SCOREBOARDS FOR SOUTH EAST SPORTING CLUBS

A Shorten Labor Government will deliver $500,000 for a lighting and scoreboard building project at sporting clubs and recreation reserves used by the South East Football Netball Club.

The funding will be made available for clubs across the South East Football Netabll League including Office Football Club, Narre Warren Football Club, Berwick Football Club and Beaconsfield Football Club.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Tanya Plibersek, today joined Labor candidate for La Trobe, Simon Curtis, at Officer Recreation Reserve, one of South East Football Netball Club grounds, to announce this project.

The $500,000 will go towards electronic scoreboards and lighting upgrades.

Mr Curtis said the project would deliver a significant boost to local community sport in the La Trobe electorate, enabling teams to make better use of community facilities.

“Funding for this project is long overdue. This funding will ensure that the infrastructure deficit between the local clubs is narrowed and that all clubs can compete on a level playing field,” Mr Curtis said.

“It’s crucial that we support local sporting clubs and the great work that they do in this community.” Mr Curtis said.
