LIBERALS' BUDGET CUTS CONSULAR HELP FOR AUSTRALIAN DUAL NATIONALS

Labor is very concerned about the Liberals’ Budget cuts to consular support, which could see Australian dual nationals left stranded overseas without help.

Because of the Liberals’ cuts, dual nationals will no longer be entitled to Australian consular assistance in countries of which they are citizens.

For example, if you are a Greek-Australian dual national visiting Greece, you will no longer be able to seek consular help from the Australian Government.

The Liberals are treating Australian dual nationals as second class citizens.  It’s a disgrace.  The new arrangements will also apply to Australian permanent residents.

These changes come on top of the Liberals’ pension cuts for 190,000 pensioners who migrated to Australia.
