SLOPPY JOE STRIKES AGAIN

Last night, on national television, Treasurer Joe Hockey got major details of his own Budget cuts completely wrong.

Asked by Tony Jones, host of the ABC's Q&A program:

“…if you could you just explain…exactly how much over the last two Budgets you’ve cut the aid budget?”

The Treasurer responded:

“Ah, well, I mean, from memory, it’d be well in excess of $5 billion right…don’t hold me to that figure.”

His own Budget papers show the Treasurer has cut a massive $11.3 billion from foreign aid. The Government cut $7.6 billion in its first Budget (Budget Paper 2, 2014-15 p. 121), then at its mid-year Budget update in 2014 it cut a further $3.7 billion (MYEFO 2014-15 p.24-25).

The fact the Treasurer could be more than $6 billion wrong about such a large cut in his own Budget confirms just how sloppy Joe is. And it shows he just doesn’t care about the devastating impact his cuts are having on some of the world’s poorest people.

This is another embarrassing gaffe from the embattled Treasurer.

The Treasurer doesn't even know what's in his own Budget. He's just not up to the job.
