UN SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION ON MH17

Labor condemns Russia’s decision to veto a UN Security Council resolution to establish an independent international tribunal to prosecute those responsible for downing Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

Those responsible must be brought to account.

There is no reason to delay.

Russia’s actions show no respect for the families and friends of the 298 people killed in this tragedy.  They have endured unimaginable grief, and have already waited too long for answers.

If Russia has nothing to hide, it should not have vetoed the resolution.

Labor fully supports the Government’s efforts to see that justice is done.
