Protect Our Oceans

Minister for the Environment and Energy, Josh Frydenberg, has released new management plans for Australia's forty four marine parks, covering more than 3.3 million square hectares.

The Government’s plan is worse than we ever imagined and would gut Australia's network of marine parks.

This decision removes more area from conservation than any decision from any government in any country ever.

There has never been a step backwards in conservation area as large as this in any other country.

We must protect our oceans.

Add your name to tell the Liberals to stop their attack on our marine parks.

We need these marine parks for the biodiversity they contain and the future of that ecosystem.

We are going to need the food in the oceans that surround us, I am thinking. Nd sooner than we think. Act now to protect it, not open it up!

The Coral Sea is a nursery for whales, dugongs, fish. Over-fishing will destroy habitat and diminish corals. The impact will also be felt outside the areas affected by the federal government’s new boundaries, and impact on the value of the entire Reef.

This destructive travesty makes me think of the USA’s move to reduce environmental protection in national parks (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/03/donald-trump-slash-size-national-parks-utah-allow-drilling/). Was the Turnbull government emboldened by this American money-grubbing, bile-inducing, savage act of rape on the earth? The timing would make anyone with half a brain contemplate the thought thread, which is yet another wavelength in the tone emanating from the present American capitalistic-without-conscience war room. Show the people who pay your salaries the money trails you traitors! I wonder the names of the sociopaths, psychopaths and environmental rapists who were in the room when these abhorrent decisions were made and which irrelevant old white men’s suited pockets will be stuffed full of cash, which will only come soaked with the slimy stench of dead rotting fish.

I as an Australian Citizen do not give permission for any government to reduce ANY protection mechanisms in place to protect our marine parks.
