Protect Our Oceans

Minister for the Environment and Energy, Josh Frydenberg, has released new management plans for Australia's forty four marine parks, covering more than 3.3 million square hectares.

The Government’s plan is worse than we ever imagined and would gut Australia's network of marine parks.

This decision removes more area from conservation than any decision from any government in any country ever.

There has never been a step backwards in conservation area as large as this in any other country.

We must protect our oceans.

Add your name to tell the Liberals to stop their attack on our marine parks.

Please stop killing sharks too – there are many more deaths per week from road usage than per year from sharks!

The Minister’s title is Minister FOR the environment. This should mean MORE marine parks, NOT less.

The world’s fisheries are dominated by big companies or powerful nation fleets, that hoover up everything from the oceans. Local and limited catch fishing is under threat all over the planet, ruining local communities in Africa and Asia, starving them of protein. Australia seems to have badly informed or just sheer selfish politicians who are hell bent on destroying the unique marine environment around their continent. The equipment modern fisheries is using is being dumped at sea endangering wildlife, which also faces entanglement in long line nets. Has no one in Australian Government ever taken cognisance of such problems, from all the excellent work marine conservation groups have clamoured about for decades?
