Protect Our Oceans

Minister for the Environment and Energy, Josh Frydenberg, has released new management plans for Australia's forty four marine parks, covering more than 3.3 million square hectares.

The Government’s plan is worse than we ever imagined and would gut Australia's network of marine parks.

This decision removes more area from conservation than any decision from any government in any country ever.

There has never been a step backwards in conservation area as large as this in any other country.

We must protect our oceans.

Add your name to tell the Liberals to stop their attack on our marine parks.

Our marine parks are as focal to our national identity as Uluru, the kangaroo, or Tooheys New. By gutting them, you would not only be threatening our endangered marine wildlife – you would be striking a fatal blow to our pride as a nation.

Couldn’t agree more with everyone’s comments. What a disgrace, sad I voted for this thinking.

The new govt plan takes this country backwards, opening the door to rapacious over-fishing and undermining the delicate balance of life in our seas. There needs to be a massive outcry against this.

Tourists flock to Australia to see everything blue – our oceans are assets for us today and our future generations – we are failing ourselves.
