Save Our ABC

On the eve of the 2013 election, the Liberals promised there would be “no cuts to the ABC”.

Yet on top of $254 million in cuts they have imposed since 2014, this Budget contains a further $83.7 million in cuts.

The Liberals gifted $30 million to Fox Sports and relieved commercial broadcasters of $90 million in spectrum license fees, yet they are imposing swinging cuts on the ABC.

This will only force further redundancies at the ABC.

Australians value the national broadcaster and rely on many of its services. Now more than ever, we need strong, trusted and independent public broadcasters.

That is why a Shorten Labor Government will reverse Turnbull’s $83.7 million unfair cut to the ABC, as well as guarantee funding certainty over the next ABC budget cycle

Malcolm, your ABC cuts are politically motivated, not budgetary. Why arent you pursuing the Australian asseslts of News Corp which – according to ATO and AFR reports – owes unpaid taxes on hundreds of millions of dollars? It’s clear your attack on our ABC is partly because News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch (who gave up his Aus citizenship years ago) is telling you to. Traitor.

Smacks of an attempt to control information. Leave our ABC alone or if something is to be done that is important – more money given to ABC to enable them to continue their excellent work.

So sad to see the death by a thousand funding cuts of intelligent, ad free broadcasting.

Yet another blatant idealogical piece of coalition nastiness when over 85% of population trust the ABC.

No cuts to ABC. Your promise. Our ABC . This broadcasteris central to so many lives on all sorts of levels. Amanda Vanstone is hardly a left wing looney. Hanson is not our elecred PM and should not be horse trading with ABC.
