Sydney Says Yes

We didn’t want this vote, LGBTI Australians deserve better, but we have to win it.

If this postal survey is to go ahead we must do everything we can to make sure we are ready for the fight.

I need your help to show that the momentum for equality in Australia is unstoppable.

A fair and just society must have compassion and understanding and allow all citizens the same rights and liberties, Yes!

I just had the pleasure of seeing your interview on the ABC. I was bought up in a time when privacy was considered important. I was very dismayed to have a political message sent to my private phone. Please can you make sure this doesn’t happen again. There are ways to deliver political messages that are acceptable. I also believe my vote is worth every bit of $122 million dollars so don’t dare take that from me. I hate the way everything is tainted. After all how much did the gay lobby spend on their campaign. Would that money not have been better spent on aged care or welfare.

I support marriage equality because my whole life growing up I was teased for being gay and asian. I have never felt more close to being equal until now, I want to volunteer and do all I can. Then I hope to meet the man of my dreams and I WILL have the most beautiful wedding ever

As a member of the LGBTQI community, I believe our status in society should no longer be subject to discrimination by a government that has lost touch with it’s constituents and is using our community’s right for equality to play party politics.

I support the right of every human being to be able to marry the person they choose to love. This is a basic human right. It affects our entire community – friends, family, loved ones, work colleagues, children at our schools, my son – and should be a basic ‘given’, not a debate in 2017. Sydney Says Yes.

As someone who’s been in a committed, same sex relationship for 7 years – and contemplating how we start our own family – I want to raise my kids within the same recognised and respected construct of marriage, that my straight friends and family can access. My relationship is as valid and stable as a straight couple’s – let our legislation reflect it!

Love = Love. Australia is an amazing country that allows so many opportunities to its people. It is baffling that this is not one yet. Get it done!

There’s no good reason to discriminate against people in this way. A plebiscite dodges the responsibility that politicians have to the people, and opens the way for fear-mongering marketing campaigns.

Because in our society everyone should have the right to create the reaplationship form they choose with their partner. Everything else is backwards and open discrimination

I am not in the market for marriage-I’m 81 and single. But I still feel that I am not being treated as an equal according to the Constitution. All citizens should be treated as equals under the same laws of our country.

Dear Malcolm Turnbull, please give your MPs the right to a free vote on the issue of Marriage Equality. This is something all Australians should have access to by right. With your help we could make marraige equality law today.

    With thanks

    Yours sincerely

This issue has been discussed ad nauseum in Australia since the 90s, if not earlier, and it’s time to get it right and have it done now!

We should all have the right to marry the person we love. Consenting adults who have decided to devote their life and love to another do not need approval from third parties. Lets get Parliament doing its job and voting for Marriage Equality, Its time.
