Sydney Says Yes

We didn’t want this vote, LGBTI Australians deserve better, but we have to win it.

If this postal survey is to go ahead we must do everything we can to make sure we are ready for the fight.

I need your help to show that the momentum for equality in Australia is unstoppable.

I can come up with endless reasons to have marriage equality but can’t think of one logical reason why not to have equality

We Australians are good enough to do this. Turnbull isn’t! It says all you need to know about him and why he should not be the Prime Minister.

Because I realise that the experience of sexual identity is a natural preference rather than an intellectual one, and so in a society that claims to embrace equality and diversity in all forms I cannot reasonably join the backward bigoted narrow-minded neeps forcing the archaic ideological parameters of selective self-education on to a whole society and the lives of others. My gay friends pay the same taxes as me (if not more), so they should have the same rights of access, respect and recognition in the eyes of the law and our parliament when it comes to their relationships.

Your love is not better or more important than anyone else’s.

In countries where there is marriage equality, the rate of suicide amongst the LGBTQI community has dramatically decreased.

I want my child to know that consensual love between adults is something to honour and be proud of.

I want all of my LGBTQI friends and family to have the same opportunity that I and my wife had. We were married in the UK, surrounded by supporting friends and family. Still the best day and one we will always cherish.

I want our relationship to be equal.

I’m a 55 year old married woman. So many of my friends would like to be treated equally and marry if they want. Love is love. Heterosexuals have good and bad marriages, are good and bad parents. Equality please.

I’ve been in a committed relationship with my partner for 16 years. Why are we treated differently in the eyes of the Government when our heterosexual friends look to us as role models of what a stable loving relationship is regardless of sexual identity.

By denying marriage to same-sex couples, we are putting out the message that their love is somehow less worthy. This is unacceptable.

I believe everyone should be treated equally under the law and that includes the marriage laws.

All citizens should have equal rights and responsibilities. The secular state should value all couples alike. Inequality is one of the contributions to the youth suicide rate: value all Australians equally!

Because love is love, regardless of gender or some religious ideal that only men and women are allowed to be in love for the sole purpose of procreation. Men and women can love whomever they want and we need to support love, not judgement or hate or false religious ideals.

Time for Australia to catch up with the rest of the world. There is no reason for a plebiscite and I didn’t see this on any other news site. What a coward and just do what you were elected to do Turnbull.
