Sydney Says Yes

We didn’t want this vote, LGBTI Australians deserve better, but we have to win it.

If this postal survey is to go ahead we must do everything we can to make sure we are ready for the fight.

I need your help to show that the momentum for equality in Australia is unstoppable.

Love is love, and every person should have the right to celebrate that regardless of gender. We’re told we live in a secular society and that there’s a clear divide between church and state, and yet the arguments against marriage equality still seem to based on religious objections. It’s time to stop this nonsense.

For pity’s sake, can we join the 21st century and recognise what countries round the world already recognise…people in love, should be allowed to marry!

We are a gay couple married for almost 5 years legally overseas, and yet we aren’t really recognised as legally married in Australia, and that for a first world country is absolutely shameful! We are not living in the dark ages! If they want to keep on using religion as a reason they should go and read what should be done to people who does things like adultery! It’s absolutely ludicrous!!

Equality is a basic human right. I believe that all people should have the right to marry consensual adult regardless of race, gender, religion or sexual preference.

Marriage is a right of all human beings who love each other, it is not reserved for a select few. The parliament should allow a free vote on the issue

Marriage equality isn’t just a matter of law but public perception. Single sex couples should have the respect and the human rights heterosexual families enjoy. They and their children and extended families should not have to live their lives treated as “other” in society.

Our recognition of the value of all loving relationships in a society is also a recognition of the equality of all people in the society however different their cultural and gender identities are. To claim that some loving relationships between two people are more of less equal than others is deeply offensive.
